So apparently I update this journal once a year. -_-

ANYWAY. I just realized I’ve been sort of basically absent from DA for… a month? Two months?? There was a lot of real life stuff going on, and it got awfully distracting for a while and I just kind of… forgot to check in. ^^;

So yes, stuff has been happening! Some annoying stuff! But mostly good stuff! Among the annoying things was of course my old computer going kablooie… Two months later and I’m still hunting up old files, reinstalling and reconfiguring applications, trying to rebuild my old bookmarks, and fun stuff like that. So, yay.

Among the good things has been a flurry of animation jobs, (fun, but they tend to have very short deadlines, so it’s kind of stressful and I keep having to drop all my side projects to meet animation deadlines.) Also among the good-but-stressful things is the fact that I snagged a table for IlluXCon this year! THIS IS MY FIRST CON. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING. AND OH MY GOD YOU SHOULD SEE THE LEVEL OF ARTISTS AT THIS THING WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO. PANIC COMMENCES NOW. So yeah, a lot of my free time should really go into preparing for this thing, because I am nowhere near ready and have no clue.

Meanwhile I’ve been desperately trying to build up a  buffer for the Wayward Queen webcomic, because it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with timely updates - I need a buffer for sanity’s sake! So far it’s, um, not going so well (I’m still basically zero pages ahead of myself)… But I’ll build up a buffer or bust, dammit!

I… guess I should reply to things. I can’t believe how long I’ve ignored my message center. This is so embarrassing. ^^;

Just FYI, I seem to be somewhat more active on Tumblr these days, if you’re into Tumbling (I’m QueenGwenevere on Tumblr.) It’s just so much easier to slap stuff up on Tumblr than on DA (I swear DA just keeps making things more complicated, so I always put off posting.) Though I should really post some of that stuff here, too.

DERP. Derpity derp-derp. Looks like I vanished from DA for a bit, there… Things got reeeeeally hectic in December. Mostly work deadlines ("We want it before Christmas!") and then the usual running around seeing family for the holidays, of course. I'm having trouble being productive on anything right now because of Family Getting in the Way and wandering around looking over my shoulder every ten minutes to say "Watcha doin'?" and sticking their noses right in my screen to get a closer look… (I've already had to hide this journal several times as I'm typing, haha.)

There's a whole bunch of stuff I meant to post - I shall post it! And oh man, look at that big stack of comments I forgot to reply to. I shall reply to stuff! (I didn't mean to let them sit for that long, agh. There were massive distractions - Sorry!) And there has been some nifty gift art, I should put together a feature journal to show it off...

Anyway, I think things go back to comparatively normal in January, so expect more life around here!

Just really discombobulated. Yeah, I seem to have been neglecting my DA for the past few weeks. This always happens when I have deadlines, and right now I've got 'em really bad. Two major projects due at around exactly the same time, so I have clients yelling at me left and right and life is becoming perpetually frantic. I think things should settle down to relatively normal around the beginning of July or so...

AND on top of deadlines this past week I've been off playing at the Pixar Master Class. :D

Which was totally awesome. :D

We had the top knobs from the Animation, Story, and Art departments at Pixar giving us a giant info dump for three full days - Andrew Gordon, Matthew Luhn, and Ricky Nierva. And while they talked they showed examples and clips and a few random classic cartoons on a big movie screen (they had the class in a movie theater, very appropriate.) And they threw random in-class assignments at us just to keep us on our toes, that was fun.

(Oh, and I totally wanna see Monsters University now, they were showing us all kinds of MU process stuff in class, and damn it looks amazing…)

(I also want to re-watch Up now.) (And Ratatouille, I can't believe I've never watched that one.)

Aaaaand... I guess I should go write some really stupidly late replies to comments and things (whoops.) (Sorry I've been so bad about that lately.) (I like getting comments, I just wish I was more prompt about replying, argh...)

Man, old journal is old, I keep meaning to update it but I never have much to say except that I'm working all kinds of crazy deadlines as usual (what else is new, it's ALWAYS like this towards the end of the year...)

So I guess I'll use this space to pimp some fine folks who are currently offering commissions - because, why not? You should check all these people out!

Information for people affected by Hurricane Sandy:

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Governor Cuomo signed an executive order allowing voters displaced by the storm to vote at any polling place in the state by "affidavit ballot." All voters will be able to vote for President and U.S. Senate, but if you vote at a polling place outside your state Senate, Assembly, or House of Representatives district, you will not be able to cast a ballot for those offices. Read the full executive order here.

WEBCOMIC IS LIVE! The Wayward Queen, updates Mondays and Thursdays! (Except today, today's special.)

It is here: queengwenevere.com/wayward-queen/

Today is the cover, actual pages start getting posted in next week's updates! (After one more cover.) :D

WIPs and details for the cover are on my official sketch blog!:D
Yes the cover took freaking forever to paint! Yes, it's real paint! Yes, I painted it too small! Yes, I drove myself bananas doing that! :D

After the fancy-schmancy covers that took forever to paint, actual pages will be black and white, with occasional covers and splash screens in color. (Haha, no, there's no way I'd have time to draw this whole thing in color. There's gonna be hundreds and hundreds of pages. Hundreds. THOUSANDS.)

Be warned that the first sixty pages or so are gonna look really reeeeeally old compared to my current stuff - I started drawing the backlog around 2006, with interruptions. *cough* OCTs… Too many OCTs… After page sixty or thereabouts, the art rapidly catches up with my current stuff. More or less. Think of it as a little stroll back through time, with time-skips every now and then where I suddenly level up…

Whenever the art suddenly levels up, it's usually because I took a break to do an OCT. Haha. Hey, I guess all those tournaments were good for something! ^^;

Much More Manageable To-Do List:

:bulletred: Some kind of Halloween pic? :plotting:
:bulletred: Finishing old unfinished EA-LEC comics…
:bulletred: Massively delayed Byako prizes for diana-hnd, Dadrick, King-of-Diamonds, jetpilot55, Silence-Draconis...

  • Drinking: TEA
Okay… After being delayed by a bunch of client deadlines and getting sick for a week,  I think I can officially announce this… WEBCOMIC STARTS NEXT WEEK! :la: Next Friday, the 26th, barring any major catastrophes! Site link will be announced as soon as it's live!

It will be called "The Wayward Queen"! It will update on Mondays and Thursdays! It has a cast of thousands, high adventure, low humor, bad puns, and good times! :dummy: It features Queen Gwenevere, Vitalia, Erroneous, Iris, Obsidian (eventually) and down the road I expect Footloose and Myriad Mayhem will sneak into it as well.

While you're waiting, you can check out how the Queen evolved - she's one of the oldest characters of the bunch, with roots going back to when I was maybe six years old. I've put together a spread on her evolution over here on my Official Sketch Blog. Go laugh at the really old art! (I was thirteen, okay?) ^^; I'll be putting together a spread on Vitalia's development next.

I've also been putting some sneak peeks of the cover art and other tidbits on my Tumblr

If I haven't been around much, it's because I've been playing hooky from work and life in general… =P

I just sneaked back from vacation. I went to hang out in the woods with my parents and the coyotes for a couple of weeks. The coyotes woke us up nearly every night with big group yip-howls. Apparently their territory is right behind our house now… Which is fine if they behave and help keep the chipmunks and squirrels out of the garden, but could they maybe tone down the yipping after 2:00am? :o

Then there were the medical practitioners. I saw too many of them. My "vacation" included one trip to the eye doctor, two trips to the regular doctor (including shots - eep!) and three - count 'em, three - trips to the dentist. NOT FUN. This is what happens if you don't get enough food, sleep, and exercise, boys and girls… I guess the past couple of years have been pretty messed up. I guess I'll have to behave better. Phooey. And maaaaybe I shouldn't put off flossing when I have deadlines…

It was a pretty mellow vacation otherwise. Mostly I hung out on the patio being lazy, pottered around in Mom's garden, or cavorted in the lake. It was hot, so swimming and eating ice cream and watermelons was all any of us really wanted to do. (Speaking of ice cream… Crepes with berries and ice cream inside and chocolate drizzle on top. SO. GOOD.) Some sketching got done, most of it will end up on my blog and/or Tumblr (when I get around to scanning it.)

Anyway… Back to work now! Time to roll up my sleeves and get that webcomic up and running! :eager:

But oh man, it's gonna take me forever to get through all my various inboxes... :o

BLURGH it's hot. If I haven't been very active, that's why… Most days it's been too hot to have the computer on for very long, so I do my work for the day and then turn it off. On the plus side, I've been getting a lot of painting done… It's so hot that oil paint dries within minutes. So I'm making good progress on the cover for my webcomic, which is the last really big task to I need to finish for that. Everything else should go pretty quickly. I may be able to launch this thing before September, if all goes well! :eager:

And I'm increasingly thankful that I don't have another tournament round to work on right now… That would be pure hell in this heat. Ugh. (I feel kinda bad for the poor sods who are still stuck in AATR, heh…) Feels so good to kick back and enjoy the Summer for once and chill out at all the free concerts, and take breaks for ice cream and a nap whenever the heat gets ridiculous, and go outside to paint and sketch stuff whenever I feel like it, and generally not be stressing out. I forgot what non-tournament life is like, man.

Also, I've been tagged by :iconoly-rrr:.

Rules:
1. You have to post these rules.
2. Each person has to post five things about themselves in their journal.
3. Answer the tagger's questions, then make 11 new questions for the people you tagged.
4. You have to tag 11 people and you have to post their icons in your journal.
5. You need to go to their page and notify them that you've tagged them.
6. Tag backs are a no-no.
7. "You're tagged if you read this" is also a no-no. You have to tag them like the rules say.
8. You have to post a link on this of your version so that the person who tagged you can read your answers!

Haha, I'm terrible at these fact things, I can never think of anything to say… ^^; Oh well, let's see if I can think of five marginally interesting facts (I don't remember if I've posted any of these before…)

1. I don't like sitting on chairs, I almost always sit cross-legged on the floor, or on a bed or couch. If I sit on a chair, I prefer to sit on top of it cross-legged.

2. My entire wardrobe is red and black. (Okay, except a few black-and-white items now…) Big surprise, not!  =D

3. I became fascinated by vampires when I was maybe seven years old and found a book about Dracula in the library. I had no idea what this vampire stuff was, but it looked creepy and cool, so I was all for it. (Then I found some other monster books, and those were cool too.) (Yeah, I've always liked spooky stuff.)

4. When we were little kids, me and my sister used to play "Witchie-Poo"… We'd pretend to be wicked witches, and our Barbies were victims. Barbie got baked into pies and buried in the sandbox a lot. She's probably still there.

5. I learned to talk fast when I was a kid because my sister was a chronic motormouth, and the only way I could finish a complete sentence was to belt it out reallyreallyfast whenever she paused for breath.

Questions by Oly-RRR:
1. If you could be friends with a villain, would you do it?
Depends on the villain. If it's one of the fun-loving villains, totally.

2. Your favourite subject in middle school?
Hmm, I was home-schooled, so I didn't really have subjects… But art was always favorite!

3. Police or private detectives?
Private Detectives have more fun! =D

4. Your favourite Pixar movie?
Oh gosh, that's a tough one, a lot of them are favorites… I think "Monsters Inc" might be my most favorite, though.

5. Most heartbreaking movie/book/show you've seen/read?
Um. Hmm. Argh. I know there must be some but I'm drawing a blank here… Most of the time I'm reading or watching things that will cheer me up. But the first part of "Up" was pretty darn sad, especially since I watched it not long after losing a grandmother… Ditto parts of "the Wee Free Men" for the same reason.

Also the last track of the "Akira" soundtrack for some reason…

6. Do you cry in public?
Not if I can help it.

7. Have you ever tried colouring something with watercolours?
I've tried doing entire paintings with watercolor alone. I'm not very good at it yet, though - it always dries way lighter than I think it will. ^^;

8. Tell about some awkward situation you've been to.
Pff, too many to count. But one of the worst was having to go to an early morning client meeting after staying up all night, and being late for the meeting, AND having a pigeon poop in my hair right before I got there. So I looked like hell, I had bird-do in my hair, and I was flustered and incoherent. And everyone else was perfectly poised, well-dressed people from marketing. So yeah, that was pretty awful.

9. Do you have plushies/action figures in your room (on your desk, on your bed)?
Several plushies! I have a white tiger, a fruitbat, a snowy owl, a couple of frogs and a grumpy-looking black bear. Also a collection of cow plushies because I'm from the country and my friends like to tease me about it by giving me cows. And sometimes I make weird little sculptures, so some of those are scattered around…

EDIT: HOW COULD I FORGET I also have the plushie versions of me and my AATR team made by Fox7XD! They're still awesome.

10. Do you come up with soundtracks for your stories? If yes, share a couple (as many as you want, really) of songs from it.
I don't have soundtracks as such, but when I'm drawing pages I might listen to music that goes with what I'm doing… For things with a lot of drama and violence, I like Massiv in Mensch, Cloudkicker, and a mix of assorted industrial and trance; for freaky weird scenes I like Birdy Nam Nam, Eat Static, and a lot more trance; for sexy scenes I'll probably play belly-dance music or something. If I've been painting all night and it's going on 5:00am, I usually put on the Akira soundtrack. I don't know why, but this is perfect 5:00am music for me.

11. Am I mad, in a coma or back in time?
We're all mad here!

Okay, so my eleven questions for people! Can I even think of eleven questions? I don't know! :dummy:

1. Who are your favorite comic artist(s)?

2. What medium(s)/program(s) do you like working in the best? OR if you're more of a writer, what format do you like writing best (novel/short story/poem/etc.)?

3. What's your favorite kind of monster?

4. Have you ever kept a dream log?

5. Have you ever had secret notebooks or sketchbooks you never showed anybody?

6. Favorite kind of weather?

7. If you could have absolutely any kind of pet, what would you have?

8. If you could live anywhere in time, which part of history would you live in? Or would you take a chance on the future? Or stay in the present?

9. If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

10. What would be your ultimate dream house if you could live anywhere and anything was possible?

11. Okay, and what would be your ultimate dream job?

Oh blah, I have to tag people? Okay, I guess I'll tag:
:icondiana-hnd: :iconleftiesrevenge: :iconallysdelta: :iconabsolute-sero: :iconelixia-dragmire: :iconfalingard: :iconhukkanaama: :iconekuneshiel: :iconashlelang: :iconsiriex: :iconpersekore:

Or, you know, anyone else who wants to do this. ^^; (And if you're busy, totally don't feel obligated to do this right away or anything.)

The Almighty Webcomic of Doom:

  • Drinking: LOTS OF LIQUIDS. It's hot.
So apparently I'm done with Artists-at-the-Ready. WOOHOO!!! :w00t: Whoops, sorry, I'm supposed to be a disgruntled loser, aren't I… boohoo? Ha, no, I'm actually extremely happy to be done with this thing. It's been going on for a year, and it's been interfering too much with everything else I want to be doing, enough is enough.

I confess my motivation has been waning on AATR with each round… Mainly because AATR has been holding up all my other projects… But partly because of all the drama and weird attitudes from some of the judges, and partly because I've been feeling like my story keeps getting steered further and further from anything I want to do… Also partly because I've never been comfortable casting myself as the "hero" of this thing and I'm reeeeally sick of drawing myself. ^^; And my plan of avoiding the use of judge characters has been getting more and more awkward (I just… don't like using judge characters, sorry. Especially not judge characters that are alter-egos of the actual real-life judges. There's so many levels of awkward in that situation. So I've mostly avoided judge characters in every tournament I've done.)

Also to be honest, I feel like what the judges really wanted story-wise was a typical artist-has-big-breakthrough-turns-into-hero-defeats-big-baddy kind of plot, preferably involving the judge characters and/or stuff from the last AATR. And I just have no enthusiasm for that. Sorry, can't do it.

Especially since any plot like that can veer into Mary-Sue territory way too easily and I'm trying to avoid creating a Mary-Sue-Me, that would be altogether too horrifying…

Also real life is getting increasingly busy, I have less and less time for tournaments now. During that final round of AATR, I've started four new jobs, turned around an actual paying comic gig, attended this awesome virtual seminar with talks from major players in entertainment, illustration, and games (Pixar! EA! Obsidian! WotC! Syd Mead! George Pratt! Sterling Hundley! John English!  Awesomesauce!!) and I started taking an intensive "Crash Course" in illustration that's going to run all Summer. So I was a bit distracted from working on AATR this last round, haha… (Come on, when it's a choice between "work on a silly tournament" and "QA with freaking PIXAR", what do you think I'm gonna choose…?) And things are only going to get more intense at this rate.

BUT I'M DONE NOW. HALLELUJAH! About time. And I think I'm swearing off tournaments for a good long time now, unless something comes along that's super-short and super-fun.

I'm super-excited to start working on everything else I have planned. Most especially finally FINALLY getting my webcomic launched. It's been put off by six tournaments now. This must stop. IT MUST LAUNCH. Preferably before Summer is over.

So far on my list of stuff I can now work on:
:bulletred: WEBCOMIC.
:bulletred: I now want to do some kind of "Adventures in Art" comic, taking the art theme I started in AATR and doing it justice, since that whole plan fell by the wayside during the tournament and never went where I wanted it to… (I'll probably use a different cast, though.)
:bulletred: I have vague plans for Coma and company that I'd like to flesh out into some sort of comic, I've never had time for that.
:bulletred: I have a massive backlist of paintings I want to do (and some started that I need to finish.)
:bulletred: Plus maybe now I can clear off some of that old junk on my to-do list. That would be nice.

EXPECT ART. Lots of it! All kinds! Okay, off to draw non-tournament stuff, WEBCOMICS ARE GO! :squee:

  • Eating: Whatever's available...
  • Drinking: Tulsi Tea
I have a Tumblr! :dummy: Okay, I had it earlier, but now I'm using it. I'll be trying to post stuff fairly regularly, mostly doodles and randomness that's not really worth posting here...

My Tumblr of randomness is: queengwenevere.tumblr.com

So! Who else has a Tumblr? =D I'm already following some of you, but I know there's a bunch more people I've probably missed... I need more Tumblrs to feed my procrastination- er, I mean I need more Tumblrs to follow! (Also, does anyone know how to get Disqus comments to work? I followed their instructions and I still ain't seeing any comment thingies...)

Also! Anyone remember my blog? This blog here, queengwenevere.blogspot.com? The one I keep neglecting? Haha. Yeah. Well, I need to stop neglecting it... So I've scanned a backlog of stuff and set myself a regular update schedule. I think if I have a routine, I'll be able to keep myself on track. Without a routine, I just plain old forget to update... So! Blog updates will now be as follows:

:bulletred: Whatever Wednesday: As it says on the tin, whatever!
:bulletred: Figure Friday: Figure drawings and related material
:bulletred: Sketchy Sunday: Rough sketches, on-the-spot action sketches, doodles, etc.

...And yes, there's at least another round of AATR for me, BUT I'm determined to prevent it from swallowing up all my other activities, like keeping up my blog, or posting my webcomic. Webcomic NEEDS to happen soon or I'll go ballistic. So I'm trying to finish the last bits I need to get together for that in spite of AATR stuff, if at all possible...

TO-DO LIST FROM HELL:

:iconartists-at-the-ready: Round Five - VS. :iconsketchgoat:

35 pages inked - 52 pages blue-penciled - 52 pages thumbnailed

ALL POSTED NOW. Posted with 35 pages inked, the rest blue-pencil... (Will probably sneak more inks in later if I can, though... After food and nap.) (I really wanted at least 40 pages inked... Argh, so close. If I hadn't had to run off to take a class I could have done it... Oh well.)

...But I could be persuaded otherwise. Blurgh. >.<

So if I've sort of disappeared, it's because I've spent pretty much all my time for the last two months on another one of those crazy intensive jobs, with extra jobs on the side. Aside from a week off at Christmas, I've had ZERO time for anything else. UGH. (And my week off was largely filled with family getting in the way, so even that wasn't as productive as it could have been...)

Which means AATR is looking very iffy right now... I'm trying to finish something because I'd hate to forfeit, but it'll have to be shorter and less polished than usual. (Damn it, I had so many plans for this one...) Can I do this? I have no clue! Gonna try! IT'S MARATHON TIME! :noes:

(Okay, yeah, so I should have put that link up earlier, damn thing's been posted for over a week now... I forgot to update the journal...) ^^;

BLARGH December! I swear this is the busiest month... I've had hardly any time for anything personal lately, too busy scrambling on work stuff, with pressure to finish things by the end of the year. BLARGH! It doesn't help that all I really want to do is sleep most of the time, because it's so dark and blah lately. I swear the sun sets almost as soon as I wake up. Come on, Winter Solstice, do your thing and get it over with and give us back our sunlight already...

(Normally I love Winter, but we don't have any snow and it isn't even properly cold or anything, so it doesn't feel like Winter... It feels like Spring but dark all the time. Blah.)

However, I did play hooky a bit last week to go see Brian Froud and family give a talk at the Society of Illustrators. Oh man, the Frouds are the coolest family EVER. The whole family spends their time making pictures and puppets all day, they are awesome, I want them to adopt me. (I had to go because I was in love with Froud's "Faeries" book as a kid, so when I heard he was in New York I was like "screw deadlines, I'M THERE!") This was in connection with a big exhibit of work by the Froud family at the Animazing Gallery... I haven't seen it yet but I'm totally going to.

Anyway... Gotta get some more work done so as to have more time to play in January, maybe, hopefully, agh... :noes:

And I need to kick myself off of Fuck Yeah Art Student Owl, ahaha, damn it's way too accurate and too addictive... What's sad is that my life is still pretty much like that, and I graduated art school a while ago. ^^;

OKAY! Work now!

(Dives back into Cave of Doom.)

So, yep, another birthday just whizzed past. Since it came right after a combined hectic work day and the AATR deadline, I mostly spent it sleeping. And being incredibly lazy and irresponsible. It was good. Plus Mom sent brownies and a friend gave me a big bag o' chocolate. Those were good too. Still getting to the pile of comments in my inbox, I'm afraid I always spend the day after a tournament deadline wandering around being a total zombie and my brain doesn't kick in again until a couple days or so... But yeah. I think I can go through my inbox now with a functional brain.

Thanks everyone who stopped by to say Happy Birthday! And also, some people did gift art... So now I have to share the awesome! :la:

DONE. It starts here. Got everything posted except for the original last page which is now moved to the beginning of the next round and will probably be revised and expanded anyway... (So yeah, it says 59 pages and stops at 58, sorry, didn't have time to change that...) Raw scans all cleaned now except for one (I'll get to that...)

After I've recovered I'd like to try adding some of the color and effects I'd originally planned... (There was supposed to be color, dang it...)

I'M CURSED I TELL YOU! CURSED! :o

Yep, I'm moving on to round three of Artists-at-the-Ready... AND SO IS MY OPPONENT. AGAIN. WHAT. This is just TOO freaky... What's going oooonnnnnn... :o

That's it, if the last entry was weird, this one will be three times as freaky! :la: I hope, anyway. That's my goal. Let's see if I can take this twisty tangle of crazy multiple canons and make it more twisted! Should be fun!

Crossing my fingers that I can do this justice and finish my paying jobs at the same time... Of course those are getting more intense now, too, as deadlines loom, yaarrrgggh... :noes:

Right. BACK TO WORK I GO.

Um. Wow. The flood reports are SCARY. :o So yeah, we had this hurricane-turned-tropical-storm thing whip through here... I'm okay, and my neighborhood seems to be mostly okay (it doesn't look as bad as when the tornado came through last year, anyway... Except some of my favorite old trees blew down. :( ) Public transit is still messed up and some neighborhoods got flooding, but the city didn't get it half as bad as the suburbs did. Some of the suburbs and upstate towns have out-of-control flooding now... like, whole towns nearly underwater. Houses washing away. Bridges and roads wiped out. EEK. :noes:

NOW I'm worried about all my family in New England, because there's insane flooding going on up there now... It's supposed to be the worst flooding in a century! (So far my folks are all okay, just waterlogged... I'll keep checking to make sure they don't wash away...)

Anybody in the flood regions STAY SAFE! It's serious stuff! That may include you Eastern Canadians, this mess is heading your way... (if it hasn't hit already...)

OKAY right, so yeah, all done and posted. And now I've gone back and added page links and comments so it's easier to navigate that monster... BACK TO SLEEP. For like, a week.

EDIT: Now with extra tentacle goodness on many pages, enjoy! :meow: (Geez, I hope I didn't spam the hell out of everyone though... DA just changed the deviation forms, like, ten minutes ago, and they're now all screwy and weird and I think I may have submitted the same thing multiple times, aaaghhh... If you got spam-o-rama, sorry about that.) ^^;

Whoa... Wait... What... How did this happen? I'm moving on to Round 2 of Artists at the Ready... and so is my opponent. :o

AND FROM HERE ON OUT IT ALL GETS WEIRD! :dummy: Should be... fun? I think? Well, I'll make it fun.

Has there ever been a real tie in an OCT before? I mean, I've seen ties, but they always brought in a tiebreaker vote to fix it. Apparently there was a fortuitous double-forfeit elsewhere that allowed this fluke to happen... (I suspect if it weren't for that, I wouldn't be moving on.) But hey! I'm certainly not complaining! It means I can play at least one more round, whee! AND I can do it without ousting Teloka, double-wheee! :happybounce:

Now I can hopefully do some more of the things I didn't get to do last round... (Erro fight. Blood. THERE WILL BE BLOOD.) And my new opponent has a massively dysfunctional team, too, should be fun.  NOBODY WILL GET ALONG WITH ANYBODY. =D

Oh man, I just really hope there's no drama or complications or anything because of all this though... (Please don't anybody blame me, this was all the judges' fault.) ^^; (I suppose this isn't much weirder than past contestants getting resuscitated halfway through the last AATR during the multi-forfeit craziness...)

Ahahaha, and I was just getting back in the groove on my webcomic-to-be, thinking I'd start work on that again after I lost... AAAHHahaha, right.

No, but it IS getting worked on, actually. Gradually. Whenever I have a spare moment between jobs and AATR.

EEEEEEE! I got in, I got in! :iconexcitedplz:

I mean, ahem... I'm in Artists-at-the-Ready! With a killer lineup! Now I can do all the crazy stuff I was hoping to do... Round one, here we come! Let the stress begin! :w00t: (Remind me to resist the impulse to cram everything into the first round... I'm always afraid there won't be a next round, so I don't want to leave anything out, so I plan too much, and freak out, and... yeah. Fun times! Whee!)

Aaaand yeah, I still have tons of work stuff on my plate at the same time. So this is a little bit nuts. ^^; But things are looking slightly less tight schedule-wise, so maaaaybe I can do this. (Trying not to let the other unfinished/ongoing projects die, either... I spent some time over the past week poking at some of the moldy old projects listed below, they might be a bit sickly but they're not dead yet! Expect randomness!)

Eeeeehhhh… If I seem to be a bit absent from DA right now, I have a good excuse… ^^;

So. After a lot of time spent wrangling with proposals and schedules and fun stuff like that, I just got a contract for a rather huge job, it looks like it'll keep me gainfully employed for several months. Soooo, yeah… I'm swamped! :omg: But what else is new, right?

Just to add to the fun I upgraded my OS, too - so there's been huge chunks of time where my computer was monopolized by reeeeeeally sloooooow progress bars and I couldn't do much with it except shout at it to hurry up.

Oh, yeah, and taxes. Taxes happened in the middle of all this, too. That ate up a week, right there. Joy.

On the plus side, I got some painting done while waiting for things to download and upgrade and install and so forth. Painting is good! (Unless your Mom goes and "organizes" your paint - The acrylics DO NOT go with the oils, Mom! Almost set up a palette of mixed oils and acrylic, that would have been rather ghastly…) (Mom is the greatest, of course, but she's not allowed to mess with my paint anymore without supervision.)

So yeah, I'm behind on absolutely everything (and if I don't get back to work like, right now, I'll be behind on this job, too. STORYBOARDS DUE MONDAY, AAAAAUGGGH!) But if I can manage, I'll try not to let this thing totally monopolize my Summer. We'll see. (Dang it… I do want to try for AATR… but… Agh, I don't know if I'll have time now! :crying:  Well. We'll see, anyway.)

Back… to… work…! :work:

Soooo... No real reason for this journal, other than that it's a new year, so I should update it. (Holidays kind of interrupted life, there. But those are all over, except for a few stray cookies.) All right, I guess this is a good time to update my to-do list!

Can I cross anything off from last year?

Um. Not much. Aside from starting my sketch-blog, which I really need to update more often. I think I'll try for at least every other week or so? Can I manage once a week? Do you think?

I DID make a ton of progress on Ye Webcomic-o'-Doom, even if it's not quite ready to start posting yet. Gotta finish the website enough so it looks at least tolerable, and make a cover, and THEN I'm pretty much ready.
